■ Installing the desktop application
(First-time only) Download and install from FLaT (web browser version).
■ Signing in
(First time and then for a certain period of time after) Sign in using your FLaT account information to begin use.
The text translation screen is displayed after you sign in.
■ Basic operation

Source language selection |
Select the source text to translate. * The language will be automatically determined if "Auto detect language" is selected. Text must contain at least three characters for automatic language detection to work. |

Source text |
This field is used to enter the text to translate. Up to 2,000 characters can be translated at once. * While entering source text, press Ctrl+Enter (Windows) or press ⌘+Enter (macOS) to start translating. |

Input character count indicator |
Counts the number of source text characters entered and displays a ring indicating the percentage of characters that can be translated at once. Moving the mouse cursor over this will display the exact number of characters. |

Translate button |
Click to start translating. If this button is disabled, bring the mouse cursor over it to see why. |

This field displays the translation result. |

Click this to show or hide the area containing the (12) and (13) buttons. |

Click to delete the source text and translated text character strings. |

■ Using shortcut keys
- Select the text to translate, and then press use Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘+C (Mac) to copy it.
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+ C (Windows) or ⌘+Shift+C (Mac) shortcut keys* to translate.
* Shortcut key combinations can be changed on the "Settings" screen toward the top of the translation screen. Set the shortcut keys so that they do not overlap with other shortcut keys being used.
- The desktop application is brought to the front and the translation results are displayed.
■ Enabling/disabling the desktop application
If the desktop application will not be used due to circumstances at your company/organization, the desktop application can be disabled (and enabled) on the system settings screen (administrator permissions) of FLaT (web browser version). For information on switching, see here.
